There is absolutely nothing that could have prepared me for turning on the podcast I’ve listened to for 10 years and hearing Joe and Mike not only say your name but also talk for three minutes about my car dealership in Edina. All Poscast listeners get 10% off at Chris Ratzlaff Ford.

Chris-I had the same reaction. Blown away and laughed so hard. They talked about me and Babe Ruth. Made even funnier because my wife is from Boston.

Stéphane Ethier, and I go by… Stéphane Ethier. (By the way, for all English speakers out there, Stéphane with an E at the end is a man’s name in French!)

Dude, you are a hockey player. You probably ARE a hockey player. But that's a Hockey player's name. 1970's, and really skilled. Like...sorta surprising people with how skilled and fast you were. Got TOTALLY overshadowed by Gretzky when you were having your best year, and then concussions drove you out of the game. You just couldn't skate like that any more. Looking back, your family thinks that if the concussions were recognized and you were allowed to heal, you'd have played a LONG time. (Of course, no one says that out loud to you. Certainly not your three daughters and one son.) But it ended up just 6 years in the NHL. Did a little radio work for your team, but didn't like the traveling lifestyle if you couldn't play.

Got a regular job then, and are loved in the office for you wit. Not Michael Shur level of wit, but still pretty damn funny.

Weirdly, no one ever remembers that you won the Conn Smythe in 1978.

Peter James Elliott (Peter Elliott).

Three first names and none of them particularly interesting, but it rolls off the tongue nicely if I say so myself.

Re: the MLB All-Star Game discussion. It's fine. Leave it alone (except the uniforms - get rid of those). I'm tired of these discussions suggesting that if something isn't a spectacle it's not worth doing. It's ok to keep some traditions for the sickos. It's also perfectly fine to just not care. Having a wild n' crazy ASG isn't going to move the needle with casuals and non-fans, if that's what you're after. And stop acting like you watch NFL's Global GUTS competition, or whatever they're doing these days.

Having said that, if you insist on changing it, my suggestion is this: invite a foreign league's All-Star team to play a single MLB All-Star team. Imagine watching Shohei hit/pitch against the NPB, for example. You could rotate through the NPB, KBO, LMB, etc. It would also be fun to remember some guys that washed out of MLB and are thriving in foreign leagues.

There actually are TWO Skirball Centers. Jack Skirball was bicoastal.

The Skirball Cultural Center opened in 1996, in LA.

The Skirball Center for the Performing Arts opened in NYC in 2003. It's an NYU theater that I walk by from time to time, but I don't think I've even been in. (Its en route from Bleaker St to The Public Theater.)

So great to hear my daughter's name discussed at length right off the bat!! Ramona June Sever (it's S-EH-VER, by the way, as in to disconnect). She was quite psyched.

Also, regarding the all star game: while i also was bored by the game, i always am for the most part, so didn't feel super different this year.

But, ya'll often focus a lot on the idea of the "star" players, and how much everyone wants to see them. I'm sure for many casual fans, this is true.

And, I obviously cannot speak for all baseball fans, but i do know that our family only really tunes in to see OUR players get a shot to play. I tend to think that many fans feel that way. You want to see your team contribute, and sure, maybe get to face off against one of the super stars, which makes it all the more exciting, but if each and every team wasn't represented, a whole lot of people likely wouldn't tune in at all.

I loved this episode. Talk about nonsense; it's exactly what's needed for these summer days (and for Mariners fans who can't bear to watch their games anymore!)
