Thanks, Joe, for beginning to scratch the surface on this absolute debacle of a Mariners season. I hope there's time to do a full debrief before Michael, as usual, turns it into yet another discussion about the Red Sox.

I would like to nominate a meaningless thing: fresh vacuum tracks on your carpet. How irrationally satisfying is that??? Am I right??!

So, here's something fun. In 1995, I moved to a big city for the first time. That city was Cleveland. It just so happened that the not-yet-Guardians went to the World Series that year. Seven years later, in 2002, I moved to San Francisco. It just so happened that the Giants went to the World Series that year. This year, I finally took the plunge and moved to my favorite area of the country. That's right, I moved to San Diego. So things are looking good for the Padres. At least, that is, until they make it to the World Series. Then things look not so great.

There are dozens of us, dozens!!

NGL, I teared up at points, Justin nailed it perfectly what it's been like routing for this team. I had actual hope at one point that we'll get our 2004 (hopefully it doesn't end up like the Cubs), but I fear they'll go on a losing streak now that they've been endorsed by the Poscast. Don't jinx us boys!

My favorite moment—and it's been a theme throughout this season—is Joe getting super-optimistic or super-hopeful about the Mariners, and running straight into the buzzsaw of Mike's levelheadedness.

Joe: Man, is this going to happen again? Are the Mariners going to just fall short AGAIN?

Mike (in his "no duh" voice): Yes.

And the chef's kiss, his answer is immediately echoed, just a beat behind, by Justin. Not to mention every Mariners fan like me listening.

Mike, give it up!! The Mariners are the "fetch" of MLB. You can't make them happen.

Oops, that should say "Joe, give it up!!" My apologies to all Mikes.

Listening now and watching the Yankees game and just as Mike was talking about how the Yankees' offense is all Soto and Judge....they hit back to back home runs.

Joe's observation about lack of Padres fans was on my mind recently. I just got back from Japan and, by my rough count, Padres hats were the 3rd most common I saw during the trip (behind the Dodgers (obvious reasons) and Yankees (sad!)). One gentleman came up to me and started to ask where I was from, but I'm pretty sure he just wanted to tell an American that he knew Yu Darvish. He was pretty cool.
